Patients of Dr Chow/Webber: How to obtain a copy of your medical records
The office is required by law to keep patient medical records for at least 10 years after the patient’s last visit. For children, records are retained for 10 years after they turn 18 (potentially 28 years). The office has made arrangements with Records Access Services Canada Inc. (RASCI) for the storage and management of all patient charts. They are an industry standard and meet the guidelines set forth by the RHPA (Regulated Health Professions Act) and PIPEDA (Personal Information Protections and Electronic Documents Act) regarding secure patient record retention and privacy policies. They will provide you or your new Family Physician with an electronic or paper copy of your file upon request. Their nominal fee is in accordance with the recommended fees for the transfer of records which unfortunately is not an insured service. As the office will not be involved in the record duplication and payment process now that the office is closed, please contact RASCI directly by phone or find them online.
