FLU SHOT INFORMATION 2020
If you are over 65 and you receive your flu vaccine at the pharmacy or Ottawa Public Health clinic, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know. We will add this information to your chart.
“We strongly encourage everyone aged 6 months and older to get their flu vaccine”
We are recommending to all our patients, this year, to get the flu vaccine at any pharmacy. Flu vaccines are available at most pharmacies for people 5 years and older and are able to administer either the regular dose OR HIGH DOSE (for people 65 years and older). If you are over 65 and the high dose shot is not available, the regular flu vaccine is a reasonable alternative.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic we are limited in the number of vaccines that we can offer this year.
Ottawa Public Health will also be holding flu vaccine clinics. More information can be found here: https://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/public-health-topics/influenza-flu.aspx
Families with children less than 5 years old:
Children less than 5 can be booked for a flu vaccine at Riverside Court Medical Clinic or Lancaster Medical Clinic by calling the main clinic lines. These spaces are limited and will be booked on a first come first serve basis.
Riverside Court Medical Clinic Phone Number: 613-739-3700
Lancaster Medical Clinic Phone Number: 613-738-9119
First time flu vaccine for children aged 6 months to 9 years old: If your child is less than 9 years of age and they are receiving their first flu vaccine, they will need to receive two vaccines separated by 1 month. Please call your doctors office to book.
WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO OBTAIN YOUR FLU VACCINE AT THE PHARMACY OR ONE OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH CLINICS.
In order to continue to support the needs of our community while maintaining safety, this year we are asking you to donate online to the Ottawa Food Bank at https://www.ottawafoodbank.ca/. We are not able to accept donations of food this year as we have done in prior years at our flu vaccine clinics.
